Independence Day

77th India Independence day was celebrated with great fanfare at the school. Preparations for the event started about three weeks in advance with choreographed dances/dramas being practiced every day. A very seasoned choreographer was identified to lead the cultural events. Teachers participated whole heartedly in decorating the school, putting make-up/costumes for all participants and conducting the event. Students welcomed the guests with their art-work, fancy dress and great enthusiasm. The event was conducted in the open playground adjacent to school, with a raised platform and appropriate audio. Many residents from the neighborhood including the parents of GHPS students came by to watch this cultural event show.

Beginning with a march past in the local community at 8 AM, followed by flag-hoisting, National Anthem, Patriotic songs and then the celebrations continued for about 3 hours with many performances by children of all ages.  Fancy dress, dance sequences, drama, speech in english/kannada were are all part of the event schedule.  Post the event, all the students were provided with hot breakfast sponsored by a patron.
